More Than Just Skating: What Families Loved About Edge & Flow Summer Camp

More Than Just Skating: What Families Loved About Edge & Flow Summer Camp

A sold-out week of Edge & Flow Skating Camp brought plenty of smiles, laughter, and memorable moments to Skating Edge Ice Arena this June.

While skaters improved their skills on the ice, families saw something even more meaningful. Campers left more confident, more connected, and excited about their skating journey. For many, the friendships, accomplishments, and sense of pride they gained throughout the week were just as valuable as the skills they learned.

Building Confidence Through Skating

Every skater arrives at camp with different goals and experience levels. Some are stepping onto the ice with growing confidence, while others are working toward more advanced skills and personal milestones.

At Edge & Flow, the goal is to meet every skater where they are and help them continue moving forward.

Through focused instruction, fun practice, games, and plenty of ice time, skaters spent the week building stronger fundamentals while gaining confidence in their abilities.

As families reflected on the week, one theme appeared again and again: growth.

Every family who completed our post-camp survey reported that their skater improved their skills during camp, with many noting significant improvement throughout the week.

Learning Through Fun

While skill development is an important part of Edge & Flow, camp is designed to be more than instruction alone.

Throughout the week, skaters participated in on-ice activities, games, movement-based off-ice sessions, and opportunities to connect with fellow campers. The result was an environment where learning felt engaging and fun rather than repetitive.

When asked what campers enjoyed most, families consistently highlighted:

  • On-ice activities
  • Skill development
  • Coaching and instruction
  • Games and fun
  • Off-ice activities
  • Camp atmosphere and energy

The combination of structured learning and positive experiences helped create a week that kids genuinely looked forward to each day.

A Positive Environment Makes All the Difference

One of the most important parts of any camp experience is creating an environment where kids feel supported.

At Edge & Flow, coaches encourage skaters to challenge themselves, celebrate progress, and enjoy the process of learning.

That approach resonated with families throughout the week.

One parent shared:

“Daniel and Jacki are kind, informative, and a great source of information. I appreciated the communication the week before to give us time to plan. We would definitely do it again.”

Another family summed up their experience simply:

“We love everything about this camp!”

And perhaps one of our favorite pieces of feedback came directly from a camper:

“Camper says add morning snack 😃”

We’ll take that under advisement. 😉

More Than Ice Time

Some of the best moments of camp happened away from drills and lessons.

Lunch breaks, off-ice activities, conversations between skaters, and cheering each other on all helped create a sense of community throughout the week.

Those friendships and shared experiences are often what kids remember long after camp ends.

It’s why families continue to return year after year and why Edge & Flow has become such a popular part of summer at Skating Edge.

By the Numbers

The feedback from families speaks for itself:

  • 85% of survey respondents rated their overall experience 5 out of 5
  • 100% reported skill improvement
  • 100% rated the value of camp as Good or Excellent
  • 100% said they would attend another Skating Edge camp or would consider returning

Those numbers reflect what our coaches strive to create every day: a positive experience where skaters can grow, have fun, and build confidence on the ice.

Looking Ahead

While the June session may be over, the confidence, friendships, and skills gained throughout the week will continue long after camp ends.

After selling out this June, Edge & Flow Skating Camp returns in August for another week of learning, growth, and fun on the ice. Space is very limited, and families interested in joining the August session are encouraged to register soon.

Whether a skater is stepping onto the ice for the first time or continuing to build on existing skills, Edge & Flow provides a supportive environment where every skater can grow, gain confidence, and enjoy the journey.

If June was any indication, campers can look forward to plenty of learning, laughter, new friendships, and memorable moments both on and off the ice.

Because at the end of the day, Edge & Flow is about more than skating.

It’s about helping kids discover what they’re capable of.
