Teamwork on Ice: A New Chapter for Synchro Skating at Skating Edge
This past spring, a small but determined group of girls took to the ice at Skating Edge Ice Arena to try something new—Synchronized Skating. Most had never skated as a team before. Some had only recently mastered their backward crossovers. But with curiosity, courage, and commitment, they laced up and began what has quickly become a special journey.
Under the guidance of longtime coach Alison Wade, these skaters have come together to form Skating Edge’s official Synchro team – back and better than ever!. What began as an introduction to skating in unison has since evolved into something far more meaningful—friendship, discipline, and a shared sense of purpose.
“From the very first week, I could tell this group had something special,” said Coach Alison. “We started with simple formations and timing, but they picked it up quickly. What’s more impressive is how they support one another on and off the ice.”
Coach Alison brings over 30 years of synchronized skating experience, having coached teams across all levels. Her calm guidance and clear passion for synchro have been instrumental in shaping the program at Skating Edge. “Synchro is about more than skating—it’s about trust, communication, and showing up for each other. These are life skills,” she adds.
As the team trained through the spring and summer, their skills sharpened. They learned how to skate in sync, maintain precise spacing, and perform choreographed moves as one unit. And now, they’re preparing for a major milestone—their first-ever performance at the upcoming Holiday Recital at Skating Edge. Music has been selected, dresses have been purchased, and the energy is electric.
“Watching these girls transform from individuals into a team has been incredible,” said Jacki Davison, Skating Edge Figure Skating Director. “They’ve built confidence, discipline, and friendships that go beyond the rink.”
Now, with sights set on the 2025–2026 competitive season, the team is growing—and welcoming new skaters.
