Assistant Skating School Director - Lydia is a US Figure Skating Gold Medalist, US Figure Skating Sectional Championship Medalist and US Figure Skating National Championship competitor who has been skating since she was 8 yrs old. During her competitive years, in both singles and ice dance, she trained with some of the best freestyle and dance coaches in the world including Carol Heiss Jenkins, "Red" Bainbridge, Tom Lescinski , John "Misha" Petkavich, and Glenn Parriott. She also studied choreography with Editha Dotson and famed choreographer Jon Wertz.
Even decades after leaving competitive skating, Lydia still loves to skate and learn. In recent years she has trained with Peter Tchernyshev, Samvel Gazalian, and legendary Russian Ice Dance coach Natalia Dubova. She continues to skate the International Dances and can regularly be found skating the Thursday Night Dance Session with Sergey Magerovskiy. She also works on her skating skills and partnering technique with Vitaliy Novikov.
Lydia started coaching over 20 years ago and offers lessons to all levels, from beginner to elite, in basic skills, moves in the field, freestyle (jumps and spins), and partnered and solo ice dance (compulsory dance through the Internationals, and Free Dance). Stroking, edgework, and on-ice conditioning is available for both figure skaters and hockey players. Off ice training (including ballet) available to her on-ice students.
